Developing tomorrow’s leaders today!

Student leadership development is the process of involving students in meaningful ways both in and beyond the classroom. It provides opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents, skills, and interests while continuing to develop new skills. Research supports that students who lead tend to grow into independent, self-assured, and confident people.  They are more apt to take appropriate risks, seek out challenges, and self-advocate.  The Svs School strives to support, encourage, and mold such students.

At SVS, the development of tomorrow’s leaders begins in the Marshall House in our Early Learning program and continues throughout a student’s time at our school. Within each classroom, there are ample opportunities for children to develop leadership skills. Classroom jobs like line leaders and calendar helpers, lunchroom assistance, and buddy classes are just a few of the ways that leadership is taught and cultivated across all grades. The curriculum itself also provides opportunities for students to work in small groups and take on specific leadership roles as group projects and activities are carried out.
